Russian tissue culture collection in Moscow Timiriasev Institute of Plant
Physiology. This strain was used to produce cell suspension. Its biomass
was characterised with high antistress and antiteratogenic activity. Therefore
working out of commercial bioreactor technology fo r
Polyscias
biomass
scalingup is o f great importance. The batch cultivation was investigated in
bioreactors differed in volume and construction ( airlift and stirred tank
bioreactors). Maximum volume o f bioreactor was 630 litre s . Dry biomass
productivity per 1 g sucrose was about 0.5 g . The same results were obtained
when we used different variants of nutrient medium in investigated bioreactors.
The highest dry biomass productivity (1.0 g/ litre medium'day) was achieved
by airlift fermenters.
