In recent years biomass of rare plants isolated cultures are widely used
for obtaining of pharmacologycal preparations.
The main aim o f our investigations was the induction of callus and cell
suspension cultures o f japanese ginseng (Panax repens).
Root segments from two years old plants were used. Initial material
was sterilized according to accepted method by diluted with water solution
o f "Belyzna" (1:4). Explants were placed to nutrient agar maintenance
Murashige and Skoog medium supplemented with 80 mg L-1 mezoinositol,
500 mg/L caseine hydrolyzate, 2 mg/L NAA, 2 mg/L 2,4-D, 1 mg/L kinetin
and 2% sucrose at pH 5,5. Initial callus cultures were transferred to nutrient
media with decreased coutent of 2,4-D (0,2 mg/L). This medium was used
for maintenance o f cell clone.
Cell suspenion was initiated from light yellow coloured, friable callus. It
was cultured in the dark on the liquid medium of the same composition.
Growth cyole for callus was 30 days and fo r cell suspension -1 8 days.
Ginseng’s biomass was dried by lyophilization.
Aerial dry mass contained 13% ash elements and 1,5% glycosides.
Panaxosides were detected by qualitative analysis o f glycosides.
Dry biomass was added to preparations for addition to farm animals
foodder. Effect of preparations was investigated on white mouses, turkey-
poults, new bom suckingpigs. Cubs survival increased in all cases.
Investigations on isolation of cell clones with increased content of
biologycaly active compounds and creation new formulae preparations are
continued.
