MATERIAL AND METHODS

The investigated specimens are collected from different floristic regions of

Bulgaria. They included as materials, collected by the author or by other collectors, as

well herbarium specimens of discomycctcs fungi, deposited in SOMF. which were

revised. Macroscopic features of fresh specimens were recorded within several hours of

collection. Squash mounts were made in iodized lactophenol. Twenty spores and 10 asci

from each specimen were measured.

The new species for the country are presented with concise description. Two other

species -

Peziza michelii

and

Tarzeita caiimts,

also are described. They were established

for the second time in Bulgaria, but at first are published with morphological data.

All new collecting specimens cited in the paper arc kept in SOMF. Distribution of

the taxa are given according to the floral regions adopted in the

Flora o f the P, R.

Apothccia spathulate, up to 4,5 cm high, single, with compressed, folded fertile

part, 1,5 cm high and l cm wide, pale ochraceous or yellowish, on a cylindrical,

compressed stem 3 cm high and 2-3 nun thick, often broader at the top and more slender

at the base, dirty grayish or yellowish brown. Asci 62,5-85 x 7.5 pm. clnvate. narrowed

at the apex, aseus pore blued by iodine. 8-spored. Ascospores 37.5-45 x 1.5-2 pm.

acicular. stniiglit or slightly curved, unicellular, hyaline, parallel in the aseus. covered by

mucilage. Paraphyscs filiform, 1-1.5 pm wide, slightly enlarged at the top.

Apothccia superficial, single, stalked; fertile head almost 3 cm broad and 2.2 cm

high, saddle-shaped, consisting of three lobes; hymenium dark brown to almost black;

outer surface whitish to cream, drying yellowish brown, slighlly tomenlose; stem up to

3.2 cut long and 0.5 cm wide, cylindrical, even, white. Asci 270-330 x 15-17.5 pm.

cylindrical, apex rounded, not blued by iodine, 8-spored. Ascospores 20-22.5 x 12.5 pm,
