Prof. Ivan Assenov. His extreme accuracy and precise work was a guiding light for

generations of students. Prof. Ivan Aseenov was author and co-author of many textbooks

in pharmacognosy and botany.

The scientific research activity of Prof. Ivan Aseenov was focused on plant

taxonomy, phytochemistry, floristics and chorology. He is author and co-author of more

than 170 scientific publications in national and international journals. The contribution of

Prof Ivan Assenov to one of the most important Bulgarian botanical series - “Flora of

PR Bulgaria” edited by Acad. Daki Jordanov (1963-1995) is significant. In volume II

(1964) he is a co-author with S. Vulev regarding the

An important part of the research activity of Prof. I. Assenov is related to the in­

vestigation and assessment of the natural resources o f the Bulgarian medicinal plants,

their effective use and protection.

He is author and co-author of the famous monographs “The herbs in each home”

(in Bulg.), “Phytotherapy and traditional medicine” (in Bulg.), “Healing the animals with
