The influence of the elidtor, pectinase, on the ability of the callus cultures

to form phenolic com pound s and localization of th e la tte r h a s b e en

investigated. Elicitation stimulated th e formation of phenolic compounds,

especially, the flavans. This effect w as accompanied by the accumulation of

phenolic com pounds in cell walls. This d ata dem onstrated the alterations in

biosynthesis and localization of phenolic com pounds in

in vitro

te a cell

cultures under the elicitor treatm ent.
