vniissok@cea.ruStevia - perennial grassy plant from family
Asteracea
egrown in Southem
America. Stevia contains a complex water-soluble terpenes stevozids with
heavily sweet taste. The sweetness stevozits o f stevia is estimated by 300
units in relation to sucrose Stevozids has not carcinogenic action and has
not unpleasant smack. Therefore it well is transferred by the people with the
broken exchange o f substances, diabetes, cardio-vasculars also by other
diseases. Due to these features stevia is in great demand among the
population as a natural product o f a substitute o f sugar.
Explants fo r clonal micropropagaion o f stevia
in vitro
served apex and
swelled buds. Explants were cultured on agarased and liquid medium MS
supplemented with growth hormons (IAA, IBA, kinetin, DFP, gibberellin) in
various combinations and concentration. In result was established, that the
buds o f stevia are hormones independent. The best results were received on
liquid MS medium w ithout hormones , where in 4-6 weeks were formed
shoots with good root system, suitable fo r change in a ground. Moreover for
clonal m icropropagation of stevia
in vitro
diluted tw ice liquid MS medium
w ith replacement of sucrose on instant lump sugar is quite sufficient
For adaptation
in vivo
regeneratedplants o f stevia were transplanted in
peat pots or plastic tumblers with m ixture o f soil and were covered by the
sligh tly punched polyethylene packages, glasses (individually) and lutrasil
(minihothouse). The period of adaptation made 3-4 weeks. The best results
were received w ith use of the punched polyethylene packages. Thus the
plants had hundred-percent acclimatization, more powerful development and
were ready fo r commercial realization.
