Peach is the leading stone fruit crop Russia"s South. The aseptic culture

o f short tips is used for rapid propagation of virus-tested varieties.

Actively growing shoot tips o f Kollinz, Red Mountain & Veteran gathered

in spring.

They were treated in 0,02% mercurio chloride fo r 5 min & rinsed 3

tumes in autoclaved water.

Explants were cultured on Muroshiga & Skoog basal nutrient medium

suplimented with vitamins, casein hudrolysate, glycine, myo-inositol, sucrose,

agar & growth regulators. Addition of 1 m g /l of BA stimulated callus formation

while 0,1-0,5 mg/l o f BA was optimal fo r explant growth. Addition of IBA &

BA induced the formation of axiallary buds in explant.

Rooting was induced in 1,5-2 cm axiallary shoots. Explants o f two

varieties (Veteran & Kollinz) needed priminarily wetting for 12 hours in IBA

solution before planting onto growth regulator-free medium.

Explants o f other varieties formed roots after planting them onto he

medium with 1mg/l IBAwithout wetting.

Percentage of rooted explants differed from 30% (Veteran) to 60% (Red

Mountain).
