Agrobacterium
transformation of
Medicago varia
by vectors containing
genes of phytohormone biosynthesis, tox, NPTII and rol called out important
modifications of generative sphere of transformed plants. It was observed
both increase and decrease of pollen and ovule fertility, of pollen grain and
ovule quantity. The pollen fertility was changed from 9.9 to 95.4% and ovule
fertility from 16.8 to 42.9%, quantity of pollen grains in anther from single to
full anther. There were genotype with increased pollen fertility among Ri- and
tt-plants. It was established, that transformed plants seed formation ability
varied in dependence on generative sphere and pollination type. The next
specialities of transformed plants fruitage were discovered:
-the ovule fertility was the main limiting factors during self-fertilization;
-the seed formation ability was preserved when the pollen and ovule
fertility were low.
We have supposition, that along whith seif-incompatibility and pollen
and ovule quantity and quality there is supplementary factor defining the
seed production of transformed alfalfa plants.
