Am arant is new and perspective fodder and technical culture in

Kazakhstan. This plant has high salt- and drought- resistance. W ith a protein

content o f about 16 percent, amaranth seed compares w ell w ith the

conventional varieties o f wheat, (12-14% ), rice (7 -1 0% ), maize (9-10%),

and other w idely consumed cereals. This data makes it necessary the

selection o f d ifferen t amaranth types best adapted to local conditions. It is

known tha t somatic embryogenesis is one o f practical methods o f plant

breeding

in vitro.

We used in our experiments leaves and hypocotyls o f two

species o f amaranth (Amaranthus paniculatus, A.hypochondriacus). Leaf

discs and hypocotyls segments o f aseptic seedlings were cultivated on

Murachige and Skoog medium w ith d ifferen t concentrations o f growth

regulators. The dispersion analysis o f experimental results showed the

influence o f genotypes, explant and hormones on morphogenesis. Fourtypes

o f ca llus tissues have been obtained: nonmorphogenic, gemm igenic,

embryogenic, rhizogenic. Thus were created cell systems which m ight used

in amaranth biotechnology and plant regenerants receiption.
