Morphogenetic capacity of 26 genotypes of pea was estimated in tissue

culture on two protocols of media. The samples of pea were compare in

callus induction and capacity to morphogenetic responses. There was

considerable variation in time occurrence of callus formation (5-12 days after

beginning of cultivation). Some variation in frequency of callus formation and

relative growth of it was noted. The most part o f samples tested was

characterised by 100% callus formation. Among 26 genotypes investigated

12 had morphgenetic responses on one or both protocols of media. Variation

in regeneration time occurrence was 13-35 days depending on protocols

used. S ignificant differences have been observed in frequency of

organogenesis and somatic embryogenesis. Variety SIR-5 and line 6-14

gave a much better response than other genotypes tested for organogenesis

and somatic embryogenesis. Frequency of organogenesis was 75,2±1,1%

(SIR-5) and 58±1,0% (6-14), and of somatic embryogenesis was 79,3±2,0%

(SIR-5) and 70,8±1,4% (6 -14 ).

The present investigation confirmed the influence of genotype to

organogenesis and somatic embryogenesis. Samples of high regeneration

competence in tissue culture have been revealed.
