root@botgard.usk.suin 1987-1997 in the laboratory o f biotechnology researches on
introduction to the sterile culture and micropropagation of species and sorts
o f cranberry were carried out and there was created a collection o f the former
to be used as selection objects for the preservation of the genofund and their
further introduction under West Siberian conditions.
In order to avoid losses of valuable objects there was made an attempt
to introduce the given species in the culture
in vitro
as clonal micropropagation
provides the opportunity of all-the-year-round plants’ circulation in the required
amounts with the aims o f introduction, recovery and juvenilization of the
vegetable material, as well as the use of small areas.
Taking vegetable explants was being fulfilled during the whole period of
vegetation from the open soil o f the garden’s collection area. Optimal for
introduction of cranberry in the culture
in vitro
is the period of the active
growth of plants (June-July). To cultivate explants and preserve the collection
a culture medium with the contents of macrosalts 1/4 MS completely deprived
o f plant growth hormones was created.
We worked out the technique o f transferring the regenerants to non-
sterile conditions. The adaptation numbered not less than 95%. Regenerants
displayed more intensive growth than source plants under conditions
in vivo.
Thus, in our laboratory there has been created a collection containing 3
species and 11 sorts of cranberry, selected relatively simple culture medium,
perfected the technique of transferring regenerants to the conditions
in vivo,
noticed their advantages while planting them in the open soil being contrasted
w ith the source plants. The created collection has been supported during
the last 10 years.
