Phytohormones are the natural plant cell component regulating cellular

metabolism. Rate of metabolic processes in the tissues, including cell growth

and development, is depended on composition, correlation and activity of

the enzymes. Therefore investigation o f phytohormones influence on the

enzymes metabolism is necessary fo r comprehending o f molecular

mechanisms of the cell activity regulation in plant tissue. We studied kinetin

and naphtyl acetic acid (NAA) influence on superoxiddismutase (SOD),

catalase and peroxidase activity during the growth of Rauvolfia serpentina

tissue culture (industrial strain K-27). Maximal points of SOD catalytic activity

were observed at 15th and 35-40th day o f tissue growth. Catalase activity

curve had three maximal pikes at 15th, 35th and 65th day o f the cultured

cells growth. We observed also that highest peroxidase activity were reached

by 40th and 60th day of tissue growth. Determined phase fluctuation of the

enzymes activities were probably connected with mitotic activity changes of

studied heteroploid cultured cells. When phytohormones were added in

cultured medium we observed that SOD activity increased 25 per cent.

Moreover, when kinetin and NAA were present earlier registrated maximum

of SOD activity at 15th day of tissue growth was absent. Presence of

phytohormones was result in decreased catalase activity during callus tissue

growth. When kinetin was added in cultured medium, peroxidase activity

significantly increased, but presence of NAA didn’t cause activity change.

Besides that, we studied phytohormones influence on SOD, catalase and

peroxidase molecular heterogeneity and turnover.
