GCEB@SATO.GOV.UZThe content o f free gossypol in seeds, roots, stems and leaves of sprouts,
callus tissue, induced from hypocotyl segments and cotyledon leaves of
some cotton varieties were studied. The cotton varieties C-9070, AN-Express-
2, Namangan-1, An-Bajut-2,175-F, Julduz, BG referring to G. hirsutum L.
species, have served as the object o f investigation. It was shown, that highest
gossypol content is characteristic to cotton seeds. At seed germination, at
shoot formation, the gossypol quantity in different parts of the plant gradually
has reduced from the roots and finishing at leaves. Among all studied varieties
the highest gossypol content in seeds were fo r the variety C-9070 - 72 mg/
g tissue. The rest varieties contain gossypol in lower quantities. The BG
va riety is differed from the others, that gossypol quantity in it is practically
100 times less - 0,5 mg/g tissue. A t callus tissue induction the quantity of
gossypol sharply has reduced. In comparison with seeds the quantity o f it
reduces 1000 times, in comparison w ith root and stems - 1 0 0 times, in
comparison w ith leaves - approximately 50 times. Callus tissue, obtained
from hypocotyl segments and leaves, practically did not d iffer fo r gossypol
content. Callus tissue o f the variety BG at first passage has contained less
gossypol in comparison with other cotton varieties, but at further cultivation
this difference was smoothed.
