anna@dma.dnepropetrovsk.uaIn the report the results of the study of morphogenetic potential of the
maize inbreds with different length of vegetative period are generalized. The
early-late inbreds ИК226, CM7, F2, ДК2/66, ИК178-6 (the length of vegetative
period - 90-105 days), middle-late inbreds ДК558, ДК165/403, ДК675, ДК415/
443 (115-130 days) and late inbreds M 017 and B73 (up 140 days) have
been studied. Calli were induced from immature embryos on the medium
with macro- and microelements of MS medium, with vitamins of D-medium,
silver nitrate (10 mg/l), L-proline (690 mg/l), casein hydrolysate (100 mg/l),
sucrose (20 g/l) and 2,4-D (1 mg/l). The reaction of each inbred in tissue
culture was specific. This was expressed in essential differences among
inbreds in accumulation of fresh and dry matter, in frequencies of morphogenic
callus establishment, quantitative and qualitative indexes of regeneration on
media with different concentrations of 2,4-D. If morphogenetic potential of an
inbred the evaluated with the combination of the properties listed herein, we
can draw conclusion, that the middle-late inbreds possess much higher
morphogenetic potential, than the early-late ones. In particular, if in the early-
late inbreds the regeneration process does not proceed further than the
formation primordia and coleoptiles 1 cm long, in the middle-late inbreds
ДК675, ДК415/443 and ДК165/403 most part of morphogenic calli formed
plantlets 5-10 cm high. A part of these plants of the first two inbreds grew
well on the nutritional medium, finished its vegetation and formed the
progenitors. The explanation of differences in morphogenetic potentials among
inbreds with different length of vegetative period should be searched for in
genetical and physiological peculiarities of inbreds.
