diseases in the plant world.

Practically,a plant breeder devoting himself to the selection of immune

varieties, should take into consideration two moments: I) the individuality

of the parasite, the degree of specialisation of parasite, on which it depends

whether immune varieties can be found; 2) the individuality of varieties

of plants among which he looks for immunity: the greater the genetical

difference among these varieties, the greater chance he lias of finding immune

varieties; on the other hand, the less differentiated they are, the less the

probability of success. The plant breeding garden should include as many

different varieties as possible, to be sure of success in selection of immu

ne varieties.
