The morphological characters o f potato androgenic somaclones were
studied during 3 years. At the first year, 83 potato androsomaclones (~ 20-
25 plants each) were grown in the field conditions. At the second year the
first generation tuber progeny o f 41 androsomaclones, with the resistance
against Phytophthora infestans, were analyzed. The clones of 41 potato
androsomaclones, selected on producing high yield and resistant to diseases,
were analyzed at the third year.
At the first year, the potato androsomaclones were grown in the stress
conditions and at the results only a ivy type of leaves have been found to the
all androsomaclone's plants and to 50% of the control plants, transferred
from
in vitro
cu ltu re to the fie ld . A t the second year, 32 potato
and rosom aclones had 100% o f the plants w ith the iv y leaves, 8
androsomaclones -10 -40% of the plants and 3 androsomaclones had a
normal leaves. A t the third year, 2 androsomaclones o f potato had 100% o f
the plants with the ivy leaves, 12 androsomaclones - 50-90% of the plants,
12 androsomaclones -10-45% o f the plants, transferred from
in vitro
culture
to the field, had 2-4% o f the plants with the ivy leaves during 3 years. The
plants of initial variety had not the ivy leaves.
A t the third year, the differences in the form of the stems, leaves and
flowers were reduced: 4 potato androsomaclones had the variations in the
stem characters (there were 35 androsomaclones o f potato at the second
year); 20 androsomaclones had the variations in the leaf characters (40 - at
the second y e a r). There were only 2 androsomaclones o f potato with
variations in the flowers at the second year.
