The results of conducted measurements of C.
sativa
pollen grains are represent-
ed in Tab. 2: 1) the coefficient of variation of the polar axis of the greatest signifi-
cance is 13.39 % (genotype CS
2
), and the lowest value – 5.84 % (genotype CS
1
); 2)
the coefficient of variation of the equatorial diameter of the greatest significance is
11.15 % (genotype CS
2
), and the lowest – 6.71 % (genotype CS
5
); 3) the coefficient
of variation of the form of pollen grain has the greatest value 17.03 % (genotype
CS
2
), and the lowest – 8.20 % (genotype CS
1
).
Conclusion
Type I allergy to pollen of the European chestnut (
Castanea sativa
Mill.) and ha-
zelnut (
Corylus avellana
L.) represents a major cause of pollinosis in (sub) Mediterra-
nean areas. Researches have focused on the morphological features of pollen grains
of
Corylus avellana
L. and
Castanea satia
Mill. Pollen grains
Corylus avellana
L.
have the following morphological features: the average values length of the polar axis
