THE EFFICACY OF MINERAL FERTILIZERS’ APPLICATION

ON THE NATURAL SWARD OF A FLOODPLAIN MEADOW

Applying a complex of agrochemical methods to a natural sward can provide yield increments as well as a signifi-

cant reducƟon in radionuclides’ income with livestock diets. Influence of ferƟlizers on hay yield and quality of pe-

rennial grasses was studied on a natural sward in a long-term field trial. Effect of N on the background of PK fer-

ƟlizaƟon, and the influence of increasing potassium rates on the background of constant NP doses were invesƟ-

gated. Ammonium nitrate, granular superphosphate and KCl were used. N and K ferƟlizers were applied equally

before the first and the second cuts; P was applied once before the first cut. The rates of mineral ferƟlizers opƟ-

mal for hay quanƟty and quality were detected. The combinaƟon of N, P and K had the greatest effect on the pro-

ducƟvity, N ferƟlizers increasing

Cs concentraƟon in hay. K had a contrary effect on

obtained feed quality directly depended on the mineral nutriƟon: the content of crude protein, carotene, phos-

phorus and potassium, and the amino acid composiƟon improved. Nitrate content did not exceed the standards

(0.5 % DM). All the differences caused by ferƟlizaƟon were significant; the greatest increase throughout the three

years of experiment followed N
