These itineraries coincide with the zone with high conservation status, the

tourist area, and partly with the area of the Nature Reserve (Fig. 1). The plant

material collected was determined using Flora Reipublicae Popularis Bulgaricae

( Й о р д а н о в ред., 1963-1995), Flora Europaea ( Tu t i n et al., 1964-1980)

and Opredelitel na Vishite Rastenija v Balgaria ( К ож у х а р о в ред., 1992)

The percentage calculations are done on the basis of the data summarized

by Кожухаров и др. (1992). The floristic analysis is presented after Meusel

et al. (1965) and Димитров (2002). Herbar specimens are deposited in the

Herbarium of Sofia University (SO).

The symbol (*) indicates medicinal plants (ДВ 6p. 29, 07.04.2000), the

symbol (!) indicates rare and treathened plants included in The Law of

Biological Diversity (ДВ 6p. 77, 09.08.2002), the symbol (♦ ) indicates plants

under the regime of protection and regulation use.

The floristic catalogue is arranged in alphabetical order of families and

genera belonging to Equisetophyta, Polypodiophyta and Spermatophyta. At

this stage the material collected from Bryophyta is not included. Brief chorological

notes are presented for a number of taxa. The plant nomenclature follows

( К о ж у х а р о в ред., 1992) and Flora Reipublicae Popularis Bulgaricae ( Й о р

д а н о в ред., 1963-1995).

The results from the floristic investigation along the first three itineraries

(1-3) are presented and briefly discussed.
