Abstract. A list of 115 macromycete species collected in the forest and grass communities

of the Pleven’s Hills, Danube Plain are reported. The published taxa belong to the classes

Basidiomycetes and Ascomycetes. One species (

Russula minutula

Velen.) is new to Bulgaria.

Seven species are rare to the country. 113 species are new to the Danube Plain.

Key words:

macromycetes, Basidiomycetes, Danube Plain, chorological data.

The present work contains chorological data on 115 macromycete species

found in the Pleven’s Hills, Danube Plain during the period 1999-2003.

Danube Plain is one of the most poorly studied floral regions in Bulgaria

regarding species diversity of macromycetes. Only 5 macromycete species

have been reported so far in the scientific literature:

Peziza echinospora

P. Karst. ( Б ъ р з а к о в , 1929),

Langermanniagigantea

(Batsch: Pers.) Kostk.,

Lycoperdonpyriforme

Schaeff.: Pers.;

Vascellumpratense

(Pers.: Pers.) Kreisel

( Ч а л ъ к о в , 1982);

Phellinus igniarius

(L.: Fr.) Qu61. ( С т о й ч е в , 1995).

The main purpose of the work is to initiate the amassing of contemporary

information on macromycetes in Danube Plain, which is very important for

studying of mycodiversity in Bulgaria
