The book reveals general principles of pasture management in ordinary farms
and industrial complexes. For the sake of building material economy and more
efficient use of machinery fundamental fences should be put up only along the
perimeter of the tract (for several herds) and cattle paths. Enclosures and seg
ments should be formed with the help of permanent and portable electric fences.
Enclosure, a unit of pasture utilization and management, is subdivided into
several segments, or portions. Successive grazing in segments with finishing
of the former one ensures not only higher coefficients of stand utilization but
prevents tympanities.
Methods of uninterrupted feeding livestock on improved and tame pastures,
e. i„ green conveyor system and supplements, are considered. Labour organization
on pastures is also dealt with. The reader will fing examples of effective estab
lishment and utilization of improved and tame pastures in advanced farms
raising dairy and beef cattle and sheep.
