regions that suit the biologic properties and habitats o f these plants. It is also possible to make pure
or mixed agrophytosenose o f these species. For such agrophytosenose it is more logical to take
advantage from perennial species.

According to studies carried out for this purpose, it is mere suitable for arid region to grow
perennial species such as
O. gracilis
,
O. kotschyana
,
O. galegifolia
. The best planting time for these
species must be just after the autumn rains.
These species can also grow in salty and clayey soil and are resistant to aridity. These plants
can penetrate the. soil through their taproot. They are resistant to out to pasture. Especially they are
perspect ive in unwatered areas. Following the first year o f planting, pasturing and reaping should be
forbidden. In the earliest, the second year this area should be pastured and reaped. Seeds should be
planted 3-4 cm beneath the soil. The germinated seeds after planting pass the winter and germination
continues in spring. The plant is eaten well by animals till it makes up fruit. Following the fruit
formation, the stem becomes hard and dries out. In autumn, after the first rains the vegetation period
starts all over again. The tip o f the root, young shoots and new leaves form. The second year more
than one stem is constituted. The productivity o f these plants depend on how much rain they get
during the spring. It is important to set a good timing for gathering the seeds because the seeds o f
these plant mature early. It is also more proper to gather the grass before the flowering period. If this
is done late, it greatly looses its quality as a nutrition.
