A. S с h ш и с к. RESEARCHES ON THE ACIDS OF TOBACCO. (Contribution I). The analysis of tobacco acids was made by extracting* organic acids from fermented tobacco (of Trebizond type) by diluted muriatic acid, con centrating the filtrate in vacuum and then extracting tobacco acids with the aid of ether in an automatic apparatus. After the evaporation of ether from the complex mixture of acids, the crystallized oxalic acid was determined by means of elementary analysis, molecular weight and identification of its methyl ether. Of other acids present in the filtrate we have obtained complex ethers by boiling with ethyl alcohol and 2 p. c. chloric acid. The ethers were separated by fractional distillation in vacuum. After corresponding treatment it was possible to constate in these fractions the presence of malic, succinic, fumaric, acetic and formic acids. Some other acids were obtained whose chemical properties could not till now be ascertained more exactly. Электронная Научная Сельскохозяйственная Библиотека
