ECONOMIC DYNAMICS SELECTED WORKS OF N. D. KONDRATIEV This is the first edition of selected works of the Russian economist N. D. Kond­ ratiev (1892—1938), famous for originating the theory of long waves (the Kondratiev Cycles). The present collection is organized around economic dynamics, which was the principal theme of the scholar’s life’s work, tragically cut short by the Stalin terror. In addition to Kondratiev’s own works, the book opens with a biorgaphical essay based on archival materials and little-known publications. The book contains an analitical essay outlining Kondratiev’s theory of economic dynamics, planning and forecasting as well as wide-ranging interpretative essay discussing the lives and work of a large number of unjust forgotten Russian and Soviet economists and social scientists. The book ends with a report of the Conjunctire Institute, which gives an idea of the variety of research undertaken in the 1920’s and of the sorts of results obtained.
