Melnikov leading research worker, PhD (Veterinary Medicine), FGBI «ARRIAH»; Vladimir; E-mail: melnikov@arriah.ru Summary The paper is devoted to one of essential aspects of herpesvirus- induced pathology (including avian herpesvirus – Marek’s disease virus) – immunosuppression. Among pathogenic herpesviruses Marek’s disease virus is one of the most immunosuppressive. Many issues associated with an immunosuppressive effect of Marek’s disease herpesvirus are poorly studied. The paper gives literature review, highlights recent researches and current theories related to an immunosuppressive effect of herpesviruses and Marek’s disease virus in particular.
