Gulenkin 2 1 research worker, FGBI «ARRIAH», Vladimir; E-mail: korennoy@arriah.ru 2 Head of Sector, PhD (Biology), FGBI «ARRIAH», Vladimir Summary Results of using GIS-technologies for modeling the distribution of farm animal population in the territory of the Russian Federation with due consideration of factual location of animal production units and settlements are demonstrated in the paper. Results of such modeling make it possible to give a more objective estimate of animal population density in territories of regions as compared with conventional mapping on the basis of averaged density and it is very important for scientific prediction of epizooty spread, justification and scheduling of monitoring investigations, carrying out of preventive vaccination.
