II. Equipment for the Raising and Upkeep of Poultry in Cage Batteries 1. Cage battery КБЭ-1 for raising chicks 1 to 30 days old. Total length 9.31 m; the length of the cage battery can be changed by a length that divides 2100 mm evenly without a remainder. The 5-storey cage, intended for 1320 chicks, is fitted with elec­ trical heating units and has a water supply system. Manure is removed with the help of scrapers actuated by a winch. Battery КБЭ-1 was designed by the Central Incubative-Poultry Breeding Testing Station and State Special Design Office which deals with the complex mechanization of poultry breeding work (Pyatigorsk). 2. Cage battery КБМ-2Д for raising chicks from 31 to 60 days. Total length 13.91 m; length can be changed by a value that divides 1400 mm evenly without a remainder. The 4-storey cage, intended for 1408 chicks, is equipped with mechanisms and devices for food distribution, feeding water to the waterbowls and removing manure. The cage was designed by State Special Design Office, which deals with machines intended for complex mechanization of poultry breeding work (Pyatigorsk). 3. Cage battery КБН for housing laying hens. Total length 39.2 m; length can be changed by a value that devides 1400 mm evenly without a remainder. The 4-storey cage is intended for 2496 chicks. The battery is equipped with mechanisms and devices for the distribution of food, watering, egg-collecting, cleaning the water- bowls and removing manure. The cage was designed at Central Incubative-Poultry Breeding Testing Station. 4. Horizontal food loading conveyor БЦМ-50 for loading the food into the food distributors of cage batteries КБМ-2 and КБН. 5.
