“Yasnaya Polyana” State Poultry Breeding Plant, Stavropol Territory This plant has developed a flock of highly productive Russian white hens of the light type which are well adapted to the climatic conditions of the southern zone of the Soviet Union. In 1965 222.4 eggs were obtained per laying hen from a flock of 95 thousand hens. Average egg weight — 58 gm. Live weight of hens — 1.7 kg. The hens of the “Yasnaya Polyana” State Poultry Breeding Plant possess favourable genetic qualities for developing spe cialized lines. “Kelme” Poultry Breeding State Farm, Lithuanian SSR This farm is conducting work with a highly-productive line of the White Leghorn breed. The hens here are well adapted to the climate prevailing in the Baltic countries. Live weight of hens — from 1.8 to 1.9 kg, of cocks — from 2.3 to 2.5 kg. In 1965 an average of 224 eggs were obtained per laying hen from a flock of 21 thousand hens. An average of 262 eggs were obtained per laying hen from an elite group of hens. Egg weight — 62 gm. “Granit” State Farm Reproducer, Leningrad Region This farm is conducting work with hens of the Russian white breed. These hens possess high reproductive qualities. In the course of 1965 an average of 215 eggs were obtained from each of the farm’s 27 thousand laying hens. Egg weight — 60.5 gm. Work is being conducted to develop highly-productive combining lines. “Stanyunay” State Poultry Breeding Plant, Lithuanian SSR This plant deals with White Leghorn hens. Profound breeding work is being conducted here. As a result a line with an egg production of 260 eggs a year has been developed. Average egg weight — 59.2 gm. Live weight of hen — 1.8 kg.
