Egg production of the Kornish hen in the course of 12 months — 132 eggs, and of the White Rock— 180 eggs. Average weight of eggs — 62.4 and 61.2 gm respectively. When 60 days old the average live weight of the broiler is 1.5 kg. Food consumption per 1 kg weight gain — 2.2 kg. Cross 1—3 The specialized lines of Kornish 3 and White Rock hens 1 are used for the production of hybrids in the northern zone of the Soviet Union. The Kornish in inbreeding is used as the paternal form, while the White Rock hens as the maternal form. When 70 days old the average live weight of the broilers is 1.5 kg. Food consumption per 1 kg weight gain constitutes 2.2 kg. “Ligotne” Experimental Farm of the Scientific Research Institute of Animal Breeding of the Latvian SSR This experimental farm is perfecting specialized lines of Kornish and White Rock hens for the production of broilers. These hens are well adapted to the humid climate of the Baltic countries. Annual egg production of hens: White Rock— 186 eggs, Kornish— 144 eggs per laying hen. The broilers grow rapidly and when 60 days old they weigh from 1.4 to 1.5 kg. Food consumption per 1 kg weight gain constitutes from 2.2 to 2.3 kg. “Taurai” Poultry Breeding Plant of the Lithuanian SSR This poultry plant is engaged in the perfection of specialized lines of Sussex, Kornish and red white-tailed hens used in the production of broilers. The egg production of the Sussex hens in the course of 12 months constitutes an average of 150 to 170 eggs per laying hen. Average egg weight — from 54 to 56 gm. In inbreeding it is used as the maternal form. The red white-tailed hens are used in inbreeding as the paternal form. Average annual egg production constitutes 150 eggs per laying hen. The line of Kornish hens is used in inbreeding as the secondary paternal form. This cross results in broilers with favourable meat qualities. Электронная Научная СельскоХозяйственная Библиотека
