These hens were developed by a group of breeders of the All- Union Scientific Research and Technological Institute of Poultry Breeding by using the method of reproductive inbreeding with the use of Yurlovsk vociferous hens distinct for their high vita­ lity and good meat qualities. The salmon hens have a broad, long and deep frame with well developed breast muscles, a medium sized head, and a leaf-like comb. Yearly egg production is 170 eggs. Egg weight — from 61 to 62 gm. The salmon hens, when combined with Jubilee and Kornish, as well as with Plymouth Rocks and Kornishes, are used for producing broilers. When 60 days old the broilers weigh from 1.4 to 1.5 kg. Food comsumption per 1 kg weight gain — from 2.2 to 2.5 kg. Kuchinsk Jubilee Hens These hens were developed by the “Kuchinsk” State Poultry Breeding Plant by inbreeding four specialized hen breeds with the use of Liven cocks which are distinct for thier vitality and meat qualities. The Jubilee hens are used as the maternal form combined with the Zagorsk salmon and Kornishes in producing broilers. Live weight of hens 12 months old — from 2.8 to 3 kg, cocks — from 3.5 to 4 kg. Egg production of paternal forms constitutes 175 to 185 eggs annually. Egg weight — from 61 to 62 gm. When 60 days old the broilers weigh from 1.3 to 1.4 kg. Food consumption per 1 kg weight gain constitutes from 2.2 to 2.5 kg. Selective-breeding work for perfecting the Kuchinsk Jubilee hens is being conducted at the All-Union Scientific Research and Technological Institute of Poultry Breeding, the “Kuchinsk” Poultry Breeding Plant and filial husbandries. The Ukrainian Scientific Research Institute of Poultry Breeding has on display two crosses for the production of broilers. Cross 2—6 The cross of specialized meat line Kornish 2 and White Rock 6 is used for producing hybrid broilers. The Kornish is used as the paternal form and the White Rock as the maternal form.
