Duck meat is of important specific weight in the general production of poultry meat. The Yagotin Poultry Plant in the Kiev Region annually raises over 1 million ducklings without the usage of water reservoir. A 50-day old duckling weighs 2 kg. Two duckling lines are raised here. The mother flock is completed twice. One forage duck lays 230 eggs. A general plan of the “Yagotin*’ Poultry Plant is shown in the hall. The “Orekhov” Poultry State Farm in the Moscow Region raises more than 500 thousand ducklings a year. The weight of a 55-day old duckling is 2 kg. Egg production — 214 eggs. The ducklings do without water ranges. The visitor can acquaint himself with the mechanization of the duck breeding enterprises. Geese have been raised for a long time in central Russia, the Baltic countries, Byelorussia and in the Urals. The “Progress” Collective Farm in the Gorky Region is success­ fully raising Gorky breed geese. Average live weight of gan­ ders— 7 kg, geese — 6 kg. Egg production — 65 eggs. Fifty tons of inexpensive goose meat is produced here annually. Guinea hens are raised in Central Asia, Siberia and in other zones of the country. Guinea hens easily adapt themselves to climatic conditions. Guinea hen meat is tasty, rich in vitamins and the egg-shell is not easily broken. The “Priirtish” Poultry State Farm in the Omsk Region raises 15 thousand Guinea hens for meat. Carcass weight— 1.1 kg. The “Zavodskoy” State Farm in the Novosibirsk Region raises grey, blue and white Guinea hens. Work is being carried here with egg productive and meat lines. Egg production of pure line Guinea hens — from 120 to 130 eggs a year. The hall has a natural display of Guinea hens in cages. The State Design and Planning Experimental Institute of Peat Prospecting is solving questions pertaining to the usage of peat as a flooring for poultry housed under floor conditions.
