HALL EXHIBITING EGG PRODUCTION ON INDUSTRIAL BASIS The industrial production of eggs is carried out at large spe cialized enterprises and commodity farms of collective and state farms, which are closely connected with experimental farms, breed ing plants, reproducers and incubative poultry breeding stations. The “Marx” experimental station of the All-Union Research and Technological Institute of poultry breeding is perfecting a number of lines of the White Leghorn. The egg production of line Mi is 258, line M2— 263, and line M3— 279 eggs. A number of lines and hybrids of the “Marx” centre were subjected to testing in 1966. The testing period lasts for 500 days. The “Fabritsius” Poultry Breeding Plant in the Latvian SSR is working on the perfection and multiplication of three-way lines of an egg production tendency. The ancestral forms of the pure lines are noted for their high productivity. In 1965 247 eggs were obtained from line A, 276 from line В and 251 from line C. The “Kuchinsk” Poultry Breeding Plant in the Moscow Region is maintaining and perfecting cross lines of the Leghorn. The productivity of the pure lines constitute 230 eggs. Weight of one egg — 61 gm. The “Konkursniy” Selection Poultry Breeding State Farm in the Moscow Region is conducting a qualitative appraisal of specialized line hens and hybrids. First place at the testing competitions in 1965 was occupied by line В Leghorn hens of a cross of combining lines of the “Sa- kala” Poultry Breeding Plant in the Estonian SSR. Egg produc tion— 249 eggs. Weight of one egg — 58.2 gm. Food consump tion— 1.71 kg per 10 eggs. The incubative poultry breeding stations receive the eggs for incubation from reproducers and supply state and collective farms and private plots of the population with young stock. The Labinsk incubative station yearly incubates 1 million 760 thousand eggs. Average chick hatchability — 84.7%. The Kamishlovsk incubative poultry breeding station marketed 968 thousand chicks in 1965. The Rostov incubative poultry breeding station (capacity of incubative park — 252 thousand eggs) yearly sells over 754 thousand pure-strain young stock to collective and state farms and to the population. On display in the hall is the ”Universal-50” incubator in action, as well as methods of determining the sex of chicks a day old.
